February Meeting

Hi All,

Our next meeting is next Tuesday 2nd Feb (i.e. a week tomorrow), 7:30 pm as usual. This time I thought we’d go for The Moorlands Inn, if that’s OK with everyone. We’ve been there a couple of times already. It’s is on Keighley Road, on the right on the way out of Halifax towards Keighley (before the turn-off to the left for Halifax Golf Club, where you then start going up the hill towards Ogden).

The full address is Keighley Road, Ogden, Halifax, HX2 8XD. The web site is http://www.moorlandshalifax.co.uk/about/

Please let me know if you will be able to join us.

Hamper Raffle

The Hamper Raffle draw is now complete. Prizes are being distributed today (and probably for the next few days). Your son/daughter may be bringing home a big surprise tonight! Full details of all the winners will be posted as soon as we’ve been able to type them up.

Highlights include:
Top fund-raising form: 7(3) with a phenomenal £457. Well done everyone in 7(3)
A not too distant 2nd place goes to 8(1) with £423.

Top individual fund-raiser: Austen, 7(3) – £181
2nd place: Jemima, 7(2) – £153
3rd place: Mollie, 8(2) – £95.

I received quite a few last minute contributions first thing this morning, just in time to be included in the draw. This brings the overall total raised to £3,789. An astounding amount (and £100 more than last year). A HUGE thank you to everyone throughout the School and to all the students’ parents, relatives and friends for supporting this unique event. You are all superstars!

New Parents’ Welcome Evening

A huge thank you to all the Y7 parents who came along to last night’s New Parents’ Welcome Evening. A very useful networking and information sharing event, and a great time was had by all to boot.

Also, we raised about £120 at the bar, which is a fantastic amount considering it was “voluntary” donations. And we persuaded 5 more parents to sign up to the Prize Draw, which will amount to an extra £150 per year for School. Not bad considering it wasn’t meant to be a fund raising evening 🙂 Thank you, everyone.

We hope to see some of you at next Tuesday’s AGM and Committee Meeting. 7:30 in the Drama Room (which is next door to the Dining Room where we were last night).

Gadget Raffle

We launched the Gadget Raffle at last night’s Year 8 Normandy Trip Briefing in School. An amazing 100 tickets sold in half an hour. An amazing start. Thank you, Year 8 parents. Great job.

The draw will be on Tuesday 30th June at the Transition Evening, by the way. The attached mini-poster explains all.
